Built to be used byeveryone.
Americans 4 Equality commits to equal access across our website, programs, enrollment, and employment. This page documents what we do, where we fall short, and how to tell us when something is not working.
Website accessibilitystatement
Americans 4 Equality is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards. Our conformance target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We conduct periodic internal and third-party audits, and we design new pages and components to be keyboard navigable, screen-reader friendly, and built on meaningful semantic HTML. All non-decorative images carry descriptive alt text, videos include captions where they are available to us, and color contrast on body text meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 ratio required by WCAG.
Knownlimitations
In the spirit of honesty:
- Some third-party embeds (for example, YouTube players and SoundCloud audio) may not meet full Level AA conformance. We are working with those platforms and looking at captioned alternatives.
- A small number of legacy pages from prior site versions may still contain non-ideal heading order or missing landmarks. We are auditing and fixing these in a rolling sweep.
- If any piece of content is not accessible to you, email us at support@americans4equality.org and we will provide an accessible alternative within five business days.
Reporting an accessibilityissue
If you encounter a barrier on our website, in cohort materials, or during events, please tell us. We take every report seriously and will respond within five business days with either a fix or a clear plan and timeline.

Non-discriminationstatement
Americans 4 Equality does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, or any other protected class in the administration of its educational programs, admissions, financial aid, employment, or any other activity. This commitment is consistent with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (race, color, national origin), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (sex), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) (disability), the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, and applicable Washington State and local anti-discrimination law.
Languageaccess
Program materials and enrollment support are available in English and Spanish. Interpretation services in Amharic, Somali, Vietnamese, Tigrinya, and additional languages are available upon request with 48 hours' notice. No participant is turned away because of language need. If a language barrier is in your way, email support@americans4equality.org with the language you need and we will make it work.
Equal educationalopportunity
All A4E programs are open to every applicant who meets the stated eligibility criteria for that program. Eligibility is based only on program-specific requirements (age, work authorization for paid internships, basic technical prerequisites where applicable) — never on race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, immigration status (for training), or any other protected characteristic.
Grievance and complaintprocess
If you believe you have experienced discrimination, harassment, or unfair treatment in any A4E program or activity, you have four escalation paths. You may skip steps and go external at any time.
- Step 1 — Program manager. Raise the concern with your cohort's program manager. Most issues resolve here. Response target: 3 business days.
- Step 2 — Executive team. If unresolved, escalate in writing to support@americans4equality.org, subject "Grievance — Executive Review." The CEO or designated executive responds within 5 business days.
- Step 3 — Board of Directors. File a formal written complaint to the Board of Directors at 3120 139th Ave. SE, Ste. 500, Bellevue, WA 98005, attention: Board Chair. The Board acknowledges within 10 business days and issues a written decision within 30.
- Step 4 — External recourse. You may contact the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (ed.gov/ocr) or the Washington State Human Rights Commission (hum.wa.gov, 1-800-233-3247) at any point in this process. Retaliation for filing a complaint — internal or external — is strictly prohibited.
Requesting anaccommodation
To request a learning or participation accommodation — for a disability, caregiver responsibility, medical need, religious observance, or any other reason — email support@americans4equality.org at least 14 days before your cohort start date when possible. We will confirm receipt within 2 business days and work with you to build a plan. Late requests will still be honored on a best-effort basis; do not assume it is too late to ask.
Policy effectivedate
